Getting Clarity in Business

[02:10]

Debbie says there's a spectrum of sorts when it comes to clarity. You are on one end of the spectrum and don't have enough options, and it goes to the other end of the spectrum where you have too many options. So, when working with clients, Debbie first determines what end of the spectrum they are on.

Too Many Options

[03:50]

There are four pieces that Debbie goes through with her clients:

Figuring out what her clients are passionate about or what inspires them.

She helps her clients create a plan based on what they want.

Debbie works with people that will help her clients along the way.

The final piece is Debbie helps her clients with performance. She says that even if you have clarity around the business that you want to build, there are still things that are going to trip you up.

Imitating Others

[07:34]

Many times, we try to imitate and emulate others. Debbie says if something about the business is attractive to you, figure out what piece of the business is attractive to you that you see in someone else. Follow the free energy or the things that light you up. Then you want to pay attention to that and take steps in that direction because that will lead you to what is most passionate for you.

A Window into the Mind

[09:12]

Debbie says that we are energetic beings. The minuscule pace picks up on what other people put out. Only you have the answers as to what kind of business you want to build. The answer is inside of you. It's not what anyone tells you to do; it is what you uncover about yourself. One way is to pay attention to how you feel about it. You'll make missteps, but that's okay. It's just feedback. And then you course correct, and you keep going.

Clarity inside

[10:39]

Clarity is internal. Debbie's mentor said, "There is no failure, and there's only feedback." Reframe the language because words have power. So pay attention to your language and how you feel. Tune into your compass of clarity because it is inside you if you're willing to listen for it.

[14:12]

Debbie says that once you have clarity and figure out who you will point the arrow at, it makes it much easier for you to build your business, who to approach, and what to say yes to. Conversely, what to say no to because it's not a fit. It's instant clarity of direction and much less stress when you have it.

Creating Momentum

[15:13]

Debbie is a fan of niche marketing. She says it allows you to go deep and vertical and get well-known in the industry. Going deep and vertical has allowed her to gain traction and momentum. The second piece is deciding where you will spend your time and resources to be efficient. If somebody comes to you outside of your niche market, but they're a fit for the content you have or whatever other thought leadership or products you've built around the book, then you can say yes. Or you could decide to do it anyway as a favor. But when it comes to your everyday efforts, you are going to put your time where you're going to put your attention. Then you get focused because that sliver of focus will create momentum.

What is holding us back?

[19:17]

Debbie says that we have these limiting beliefs or the stories we have been telling ourselves, which are holding us back. She says that we don't even know it. The things that we repeatedly do now become a habit. The things that we repeatedly think become a habit too. These stories are running on automatic pilots, and they're running in the background. We don't even know that they're happening, and yet, they can be moving us forward. They can just as easily be holding us back.

Golden Nuggets

[22:08]

One of the biggest antidotes for what gets in the way is people. When you surround yourself with the right people who get you have your back, who will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, who will lift the bar for you, then you go places. If you're going to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others. And the same thing applies to your business.

[23:56]

Debbie says that when you feel like quitting because you think things aren't working, take the time to consider that you are on the precipice of coming into exactly what you want.
